Through community forums, consultation and surveys, the community has shared its vision for Nambour: a transformed local economy while retaining its distinctive cultural identity.
The Reimagine Nambour project will bring together government, community and business leaders to deliver a strategy that unites the town and its leaders around an action plan. Funding for the action plan has been provided through the Federal Government’s Building Better Regions Fund ($50,000) and Sunshine Coast Council ($50,000).
A 13 person Steering Committee will oversee independent consultants to undertake a three phase process to unlock Nambour’s future economic potential and create a visionary action plan to transition the former sugar mill town into a modern, vibrant and sustainable economy.
A PHASED STRATEGY
The Reimagine Nambour project will be delivered in phases:
- The key challenges and also the key opportunities facing Nambour will be identified, including an audit of assets and capabilities.
- A prioritised list of initiatives which respond to the key challenges and opportunities will be established.
- A series of must-do activities to progress the plan will be identified and pursued.
