Federal Government Grants

The Morrison Government have several grants programmes currently open to support community groups, schools and businesses in Fairfax. Below is a snapshot of each programme and links for further information and advice. Please note that the 2019 Stronger Communities Programme, Communities Environment Programme and Local Schools Community Fund have closed.

Sporting Schools is a $240 million Australian Government initiative designed to help schools to increase children's participation in sport, and to connect them with community sporting opportunities. Sporting Schools programs are provided free to children and their families to help students build the confidence and capability to be active for life.

Schools, coaches and sporting organisations are encouraged to apply - there is a program for primary schools, and a targeted program for Year 7 and 8 students in secondary schools. Applications close on 22 November 2019. Visit https://www.sportaus.gov.au/schools to find out more.

Building Better Regions

Applications are now open for round 4 of the Building Better Regions Fund. The latest $200 million round will be wholly and soley dedicated to helping the communities hardest hit by the crippling drought.

Applications open on 14 November 2019 and close on 19 December 2019.

Safer communities grants

Applications are now open for Round Five of the Safer Communities Fund, with communities across Australia set to share in up to $55.1 million in grants to improve public safety and security.

The Safer Communities Fund provides funding to community organisations, schools, pre-schools, and local councils to help implement and boost crime prevention and security initiatives such as CCTV and lighting. Grants of up to $1 million are available.

The aim of the program is to increase feelings of safety in the Australian community and to reduce crime, violence and anti-social behaviour. We all have the right to feel safe. Applications close 10 December 2019.

Veteran and Community Grants Program

The Veteran and Community Grants Program provides funds to maintain and improve the independence and quality of life for members of the Australian veteran community by providing funding for projects that sustain or enhance health and wellbeing, specifically:

  • Deliver projects that are sustainable, financially viable and have an ongoing benefit for members of the Australian veteran community; and

  • Deliver projects that increase opportunities for members of the Australian veteran community, associated with social activity and community participation and/or improve health behaviours and support healthy places.

Applications are open until 27 February 2020.

Agricultural Show Grants

Agricultural Shows are the heart and soul of regional communities and the Federal Government wants them to stay that way.

Grant funding is now available for organisers of regional Agricultural Shows to upgrade existing facilities and the building, purchase, rent or construction of new infrastructure to keep our shows running well into the future, bring communities together and bridge the divide between country and city.

Applications close 13 December 2019.
